Nutritional Status of Indonesian Toddlers

Nutritional Status of Indonesian Toddlers

What will Indonesia’s future look like if one-third of its population faces issues with intelligence and health?

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in children under five due to chronic malnutrition, particularly during the first 1,000 days. It possesses a significant challenge to Indonesia’s human resource development. Stunting endangers the future of Indonesian children and results in substantial economic losses.

In 2021, the prevalence of stunting decreased from 27.7% in 2019 to 24.4%, with a target reduction of 14% by 2024. Local governments and partners are working to enhance both access to and the quality of health services. The government remains dedicated to prioritizing nutrition services for children under five, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.

Did you know that 3 out of every 10 Indonesian children suffer from malnutrition?

Malnutrition impacts brain growth and development, leading to several issues:

  • Children may become apathetic and disengaged from their surroundings. They may experience reduced physical activity and energy.
  • Impaired memory, learning abilities, and concentration.
  • Lower academic performance, increased anxiety and depression.
  • Higher risk of developing chronic diseases in adulthood.

Let us work together to prevent malnutrition and stunting. Ayoma offers education and practical tips for mothers on managing nutritious diets through our social media platform at www.ayo-ma.com.

Together, we can help ensure that Indonesia’s future generations grow up to be strong, competitive, and high-quality individuals. Let’s continue working together to promote the optimal growth and health of our children.
