Tegal Style Yong Tofu
Ingredients
- 10 yellow tofu
- 250 g ground beef
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 cloves of shallots
- Salt and pepper
- Peanut sauce:
- 200 g peanuts, fried
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 5 cloves of shallots
- 3 bird’s eye chilli (personalise spiciness level)
- 3 tbsp palm sugar/sorghum sugar
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 100 ml coconut milk
- 300 ml coconut water
- Lime to squeeze over the peanut sauce
Cooking Instructions
- Combine minced meat with garlic, shallots, salt and pepper to create a tofu-filling mixture.
- Cut each tofu into halves and stuff with a tofu-filling mixture. Steam for approximately 20 minutes.
- Blend peanut sauce ingredients (excluding coconut milk and lime) with gradually added coconut water until the mixture is smooth.
- Simmer the peanut sauce with coconut milk, taste, and adjust the seasoning if needed. Bring to a boil on low heat.
- Serve the tofu with peanut sauce and a squeeze of lime. Enjoy!
